Infrared Thermography

Infrared photos make visible the temperatures present on object surfaces.  When used during a building inspection they reveal conditions within the building that are not apparent to the naked eye.  Infrared cameras excell at:

1. Revealing the presence or absence of insulation in walls and ceilings.

2. Finding moisture, due to the fact that moist surfaces will be cooler that surrounding areas.

3. Finding air leaks in the building envelope.  When used in the wintertime, air leakage into a building will create an unmistakeable pattern of streaking coolness on the walls, floors or ceilings nearby.  This coolness is easily imaged with an IR camera.

Every residential and commercial inspection includes the use of an infrared camera at no extra charge. In our opinion, no inspection would be complete without this.

Thermal Imaging Inspections

This is a blended image: both Infrared and visible light. Note the portion of the roof which is lighter in color than the overhang, which is darker. This house is losing a lot of heat through the attic, resulting in a warm roof which shows up in this infrared/visible-light image.
