Bless This House Inspections is an outgrowth of Bless This House Construction.  After 10 years in the residential remodeling and rehabilitation business, I was advised by friends that I would do well to help others in the house-buying process.  I took this to heart.  After taking the requisite pre-licensure training, and then passing my State of Illinois Exam, I was issued my Home Inspector's license.  I have subsequently taken training in Mold Testing, Radon Measurement, Electrical Systems Inspections, Structural Inspections and Infrared Camera Scanning.

Part of maintaining my state license and my membership in the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors requires me to stay current in my field and to be constantly learning.  This is not a problem at all.  My desire to always bring my best to my clients drives me to stay at the top of my profession.

To that end, I now bring a state-of-the-art Infrared Scanner to my inspecctions and can provide amazingly accurate photos of the presence or absence of insulation inside the walls of a structure.  No inspector without an Infrared Scanner can do this.  I trained for one full week with Snell Infrared on the theories of Thermodynamics and the applications of IR cameras in Building Envelope diagnostics as well as predictive maintenance in industrial settings.  Following that course, and examination, I was issued a  Level I Certified Thermographer certificate.

I grew up in Illinois and have been a resident of Macomb, IL since 1983.  I love this community and cherish the opportunity to help its residents new and old,  make informed and wise choices when it comes to the important decision of choosing which house to call home.

With over 25 Years of experience in home remodeling and construction, I bring an experienced and unbiased eye to the important systems that make up a home.

Bless This House Attends Stucco Workshop

December 14, 2008  Macomb, IL.

Ron Green, owner of Bless This House Inspections, has just returned from a specialized Synthetic Stucco training seminar.  Held  in Boulder, Colorado, at the headquarters of the InterNational Association of Certified Inspectors, this seminar focused on the popular and problematic Exterior Insulated Finishing System (EIFS) method of construction.  This technique is frequently used on new commercial buildings, and on some residential structures.  There have been numerous moisture problems with this construction method.  Consequently there have been a number of methods developed to retain the energy-saving and aesthetic advantages of EIFS while eliminating the moisture problems.

It is important for the potential buyers of stucco-clad homes and buildings to know what type of synthetic stucco construction is present on their structure.  Not only that, but there are many finishing details that can make the difference between a healthy building that will last, and one that will be a big problem down the road.  Even the newer, better systems can be installed incorrectly.  What makes these systems a problem is that moisture that does get into the walls generally has no way to get out.  Proper detailing, sealing and drainage in much more important in these systems than in more conventional construction techniques.

Bless This House is committed to bringing the finest in Inspection services to Western Illinois.  With the addition of this training in both Polymer-Modified and Polymer-Based, EIFS, One-Coat and Direct-Applied Stucco, Bless This House has added an important skill to the inspections they offer.

Bless This House Receives License for Radon Measurement

From The State of Illinois

Macomb, IL. U.S.A.     Ron Green, owner of Bless This House is pleased to announce that he has been granted a license for Radon Measurement by the State of Illinois.  “This makes Bless This House Home Inspections the first and only Licensed Radon Measurement Professionals in McDonough County”, Green says.  “Not only has this license added considerable depth to the Home Inspection services we offer, but it brings to all the homeowners of McDonough County and Western Illinois a much-needed service.  Radon gas is a silent and little-known killer.  It is the second largest cause of lung cancer, after smoking.”    It is estimated that 22,000 Americans die each year due to the effects of Radon.  The sad thing is that these deaths are preventable, if only people would test and treat their homes for Radon.

Green says that Bless This House offers two Radon Measurement services.  “We can test a home for radon and generate a report for the homeowner, plus we sell the Safety Siren Pro III Digital Radon Monitor. This  digital radon measurement device is designed for home use.  The radon monitor gives a continuous readout, thus it can be used year-round to monitor the radon levels in the home.  The average outdoor level of Radon Gas in the U.S. is 1.4 pico-curies/liter of air.  The nationally-recognized acceptable limit for Radon Gas in homes is 4 pico-curies/liter.  It is estimated that half the homes in West-Central Illinois are above this limit.

Bless This House is pleased to now offer Radon Gas Testing, in addition to its Mold Testing and Thermal Imaging services.
